Episode 5: Brandon, a fellow New Zealander, thought-dissident, and Psychology PhD candidate, joins me to discuss the state of New Zealand’s intellectual climate.
Great to see another bright mind doing the deep work on something we might intuit on an implicit level, but not be able to explicitly articulate. Much needed.
Seems university has changed since my day (late '80s early '90s) - so even post Popper was OK. At Canterbury anyway. But I can see how we got there as it was starting then, just not in engineering. I was a student rep. on the Academic Board, and had a bit to do with academics in the Arts. The seed was being sown - I can see this clearly in hindsight. Shall we call that 2020 (ahem) vision?
BTW you finished with "what to do". If you read and understand how we got here it might help; it all starts with the government bonds (= your debt).
Thanks for having me on bro! Was fun talking to you, looking forward to some more great discussions in the future!
All good bro - me too! Yeah man, for sure.
